Northcote Aquatic & Recreation Centre works closely with Darebin Community Health to assist in the running of the men’s shed and the repair and gifting of bikes.
This joint initiative between Sport and Recreation Victoria, YMCA Victoria and Darebin Community Health helping men get together in a social environment and repair, rejuvenate and recycle bicycles to be gifted to the community for those in need.
The partnership recognises mental health issues, as well as the need for health and wellbeing activities.
Together, the team from the Darebin men’s shed have gifted in excess of 200 bikes.
The men’s shed is open on Mondays and Tuesdays.
This is a free project for all those who wish to join in or donate a bike. The Bike Linx Project runs with assistance from our Open Doors Fund, please talk to the YMCA Open Doors representative.
The Bike Linx Project provides men with social interaction a sense of purpose and some physical exercise and activities. With the involvement of Darebin Community Health, the project promotes health and wellbeing, and an active lifestyle.
