We are proud to announce Barry Plant Northcote as our Event Partner for the YMCA Swimathon 2016.
The YMCA is on a mission to make swimming and water safety accessible for everyone! Too often children and adults with disabilities miss out due to a lack of access to specialist swimming lessons, teachers, equipment and accesible pools. This places them at an increased risk of drowning.
Last year more than 6,000 participants and supporters raised over $339,000 to support up to 4,800 people with disabilities to learn to swim and be safe around water. This year, the YMCA wants to raise $400,000 to support even more!
Last year at the Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre, we raised $12,000 which enabled us to provide swimming lessons to over 100 children, begin training two of our swim teachers is AUSLAN to provide more access in our Deaf and Hard of Hearing Swimming Lessons program and we couldn't have done this without the support and kindness of our local community.
This year we want to raise $13,000 to continue to develop our Deaf and Hard of Hearing program and support more people with disabilities access the Y! This is why we are so excited that the team from Barry Plant Northcote have rolled out the red carpet and are supporting our local community at this years event.
Come on down Sunday 28 February and meet some of the team, we hear that they're the real estate specialists for Northcote, Thornbury, Fairfield and Alphington. They'll be here enjoying the day and would love to answer your questions.
