The environment and water usage report for June 2012 for Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre has been released.
Electricity usage has been steady over the last few months. The cooler weather and darker days increases the load on our system. The feasibility of installing a cogen plant on site to generate our own power will be a great bonus.
Total tonnes of gas emission mimics the electricity used. When the centre transfers to the cogen plant will benefit in a cleaner energy source. The calculations are that the cogen plant will save 30 tonnes of emissions equivalent to taking off 250 cars off the road.
Gas usage has increased steadily over the last three years. This is in line with the increase in the number of patrons visiting the centre. Gas usage at the centre runs the pool heating and showers
The centre used almost 2000 litres of water for the month of June. We have seen a significant reduction in water usage over the years as the centre adopted and maintained a strong water map plan. Even though we have all experienced good rain fallwe are committed to keep our water usage down.
